Board Meeting
6:00 pm Monday, November 28, 2011

1. Introduction of guests or new members
- Attendance: Michael Clinkenbeard, Joe Spencer, Betty Vega, Jim Panknin, Barbara Ryan, Ellen Duty, Terry Johnson, Lis Johnson, and Suzie Martin
2. Approval of School Grants
Representatives from each school presented their mini-grant requests. The Board enjoyed listening to the innovative ideas and all the grants were approved. Each school’s assigned Foundation Board member will deliver checks the first week of November.
3. Approval of October 24, 2011 Minutes
Barbara moved to approve the minutes and Rob seconded the motion. The vote was taken and the minutes were approved
Joe moved to approve the September 19, 2011 Foundation minutes, Rob seconded the motion. The vote was taken and the minutes were approved.
4. Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer’ Report was distributed, discussed and filed.
- Reimbursement checks were distributed.
- Sportfplex donation from fundraiser will be discussed at the January 23, 2012 meeting
- Kathy Davis Memorial Fund (money will be used for a bench in the Reading garden in her memory at Rio Seco School. Terry will discuss this further at the January 23, 2012 meeting.
- The past 2 winners of trips at the Golf Tournaments, will choose up to a $2000.00 trip and will be reimbursed by the Foundation
- Eagle Storage is donating the use of a 5X15 foot storage unit for the Foundation to use. It was moved to purchase portable shelving to put in the unit to store items used by the Foundation. Terry will assemble the storage shelves and Joe will email the code and instructions and how to get into the unit to Board members
5. Art Show: Suzie Martin
- Suzie will chair the Art Show this year. It will be held February 28 at the Boys and Girls club. Times will be similar to last year. Under the Sea will be the theme.We still need a vendor coordinator, donation coordinator, and autioneer.
6. Stuff the Turkey Fundraiser
- All Board Liaisons will continue to collect money from the Turkeys at each school through the first week of December.
- Terry’s husband will take pictures of the Turkeys and they will be posted on our web site.
- Checks will be distributed to each school at a School Board meeting in January.
- We will collect, Turkeys, stands, laminated turkeys, feathers and moneybags from each school and store in the storage unit to use next year.
6. Round Table Discussion
- We will work on involving more small businesses with the Foundation in the new year.
- Pride Academy at Prospect Ave School will celebrate their 50th Anniversary Dec. 14 at 9:30 for the opening of the time capsule buried on Sept. 25, 1986. They will also have an open house from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the media center where yearbooks and class photos will be displayed. Community and all Foundation Board members are invited to attend in addition to current and past staff members, parent and students.
